Please join us for an evening with noted Pawnee attorney and activist Walter Echo-Hawk, award-winning author of the groundbreaking and provocative new book “In The Courts of the Conqueror: The Ten Worst Indian Law Cases Ever Decided." 

4:00-6:00 pm – Museum tour and reception

6:00-7:00 pm -- Talk and book signing (books will be available for sale)

Walter Echo-Hawk is a lawyer, tribal judge, scholar and activist whose legal experience includes cases involving Native American religious freedom, prisoner rights, water rights, treaty rights, and reburial/repatriation rights.

The Oklahoma Heritage Museum is a high-tech, interactive Museum, which focuses on telling Oklahoma's story through its people.  The museum has been named the 2008 Best New Attraction in Oklahoma, a 2008 Oklahoma City Nickelodeon Parents' Pick for Teens, the 2009 Outstanding Attraction in Frontier Country and the 2009 Oklahoma City Nickelodeon Parents' Pick for Kids.

Reservations are required for this event.  

Transportation will be provided for American Association for State and Local History conference attendees.  Buses will depart approximately every half-hour (3:30, 4:30, 5:00, and 5:30) from the Renaissance Hotel.   Buses will return from the Museum to the hotel at 7:00, and 7:30 pm.
